Inspirata Pointe at Royal Oaks Wins the 2024 Senior Housing News Architecture & Design Award

Inspirata Pointe is an expansion of Royal Oaks, adding a brand-new Independent Living neighborhood with 156 customizable residences on 50+ acres of lush landscape. Designed to embrace the most progressive type of senior living, Inspirata Pointe at Royal Oaks in Sun City, Arizona, has distinguished itself by winning the 2024 Senior Housing News Architecture & Design Award.

What Is the Senior Housing News Architecture & Design Award?

The annual SHN Architecture & Design Award recognizes cutting-edge design and innovation in senior living, celebrating unique projects that improve seniors' lives. Communities across the nation and the world submit projects to vie for top honors across 20 categories.

Inspirata Pointe Wins Top Prize in Independent Living

In 2024, Inspirata Pointe at Royal Oaks was the winner within the Independent Living category, beating out 11 other contenders. The nearly 300,000-square-foot project was completed in April 2023 through the help of architect and interior design firm Perkins Eastman and builder/contractor Sundt Construction.

What Makes Inspirata Pointe So Innovative?

The resort-style campus is rich with amenities, offering a variety of wellness and dining experiences as well as stunning residences. The apartment homes feature contemporary open floor plans, floor-to-ceiling windows and patios or terraces to enhance outdoor views. The villas also have open floor plans and floor-to-ceiling windows but are more intimate in scale, with expansive outdoor terraces overlooking the lush gardens surrounding them.

Inspirata Pointe’s multistoried buildings are positioned to take advantage of the surrounding mountain vistas, while modern architectural features, such as impressive roof overhangs and large windows, allow exterior landscapes to flow into interior spaces harmoniously. Promenades, covered breezeways, intimate pathways and lush pocket gardens are artfully placed throughout the campus. To extend the use of outdoor spaces throughout the summer, designers incorporated passive cooling to create welcoming sanctuaries, including shaded courtyards with walking paths, pavilions and water features.

Locally sourced limestone, stucco, bronze and wood accents used throughout the community provide richness and contrast to the overall design. The chosen color palette, canopies, textures and patterns utilized throughout the interior design and landscaping reflect the beauty of Arizona’s environment to create a true desert oasis that seniors will love calling home.
